This is made worse by the fact that seasons are forced on you, only changing every real world week. The UK just isn’t as well suited to a game about festivals, interesting cars, and beautiful settings. However, as good as it is there is a few missteps that places it behind the other two. On just about every metric this is a really good game. It has incredible graphics, great sound, and it’s great fun to play. To be clear this by no means indicates that Horizon 4 is a bad game. It may seem surprising that I’m giving third place to the latest entry in the series. So without further ado, here’s my ranking: Others have tried with the likes of Test Drive Unlimited, which could have been amazing if it wasn’t plagued by performance and gameplay issues. When Horizon and Horizon 2 was released I was blown away that it was even technically possible. No other racing game has been able to do this. All the cars, all the customization, the simulation racing, the highly polished gameplay and everything else that made Forza Motorsport great was now available to take out onto the open road. Luckily Playground Games came along and was able to take all of this goodness to the open world. The only problem was that all of this was confined to the racetrack. If you wanted to, you could spend hours testing different parts and setups, while also fitting cosmetic parts and creating unique paint jobs. On top of all this, there were loads of customization in terms of your car’s performance and looks. Add to that a great selection of cars, each beautifully detailed with it’s own unique handling, sound and character. It was an incredibly well rounded and polished racer, being accessible for new players but also a great racing sim with the difficulty turned up and the assists turned off.

What makes Forza Horizon better than all other racing gamesīefore Forza Horizon came along, my favorite racing game was Forza Motorsport 4. It is completely worth the money, and if you love racing games you owe it to yourself to get these games. So with that in mind, I’d like to share my thoughts on what I consider the be the 3 best racing games of all time.īefore I start I’d like to say that if you don’t own an Xbox and you’d like to get into the Horizon series, stop reading right now and buy the Xbox One and all three games. They were all released at different times, so I guess most reviewers weren’t that interested in doing direct comparisons. However, I couldn’t find any review comparing the three games head to head in terms of the overall experience. I had really high expectations for it, and it exceeded all my expectations. I only recently played the Forza Horizon series for the first time.
